A Note From Pastor Doenges

Greetings in the Name of Christ our Lord, dear friends.

It is with a heavy heart that I have to write you this day.  Although our team has made it safely into Port au Prince yesterday, tragedy has also struck.  Pastor Louis met the team as they made it to the border between the Dominican Republic and Haiti (they had to fly into the DR and then make the drive with Leonard into Haiti the next day), and ensured that they would make it into the country ok.

Once all was set for the team, they went on their way and Pastor Louis returned to his home.  At some point, his home was robbed and during this attack, he was shot and killed.  His dear wife Elucie is fine, but traumatized and so very saddened of course.  We are all shocked and deeply saddened by all of this.  But we also know that Pastor Louis has reached the goal of his faith, the thing that he so faithfully shared with so many people, that heaven is his through his faith in Jesus his Savior.  He rests in His Savior's arms forever and ever.

Elucie's desire (and Pastor Louis', I'm certain) is that the team continue to do what they went down there to do:  share the Gospel of Jesus through the medical mission team.  They will do that, at least for now.  Immanuel's church leaders are meeting today and tomorrow to discuss what will happen next.  Please pray for the team's continued safety and guidance in all that they do; for God's wisdom and discernment for our leadership team in deciding what to do; for God's comfort to be upon Pastor Louis' family; and for the future of the ministries that Pastor Louis so tirelessly led there in Haiti.

God bless you all.  You are loved!

In Christ our living and loving Savior,

Pastor D
