Lo and behold, when Mark called the airport yesterday afternoon, they said it was there. We were still skeptical. When we stopped at the airport on the way to clinic, there was the bag and everything was still there. Thank you, Lord!
Clinic went so well. The docs did several procedures. Two babies came in tongue tied. Two snips later and you should have seen the faces of these babies as they were now able to move their tongues all over the place.
We had one young woman test positive for malaria, but we did not have any of the medicine and thought she would have to come back the next day. One call to Leonard and Ken who were out on the road returning with patients from the hospital fixed the problem. As the call was made they were just passing a pharmacy and stopped picked up the medicine and returned so that the young woman could be helped this evening.
Our numbers were very good. Eye glasses saw between 70 and 80 people. The medical clinic served 240 patients, many of whom were babies and young children. Two women who we thought had left yesterday without their meds, returned today and we will be helping one of them be seen at another medical clinic which our Haitian doctor serves at.
Ken and Leonard took 6 patients to the hospital today. All with cataracts. At the one hospital there was no eye doctor. So they went to a second hospital and there will be one next week, so we will have to have the people taken care of after we leave.
Today we saw a man who had a hernia operation we paid for last year. He was so very happy. Later today two more men came with hernias. One with a double hernia. They will be taken to the hospital on Monday.
By the time we got back for dinner it was nearly 7:30. It was a long, but very successful day. Many prayers prayed and many answers with a resounding YES!
Tomorrow we move to the church at Delmas 89. We will serve there for Saturday.
Pray for those people we are trying to help through the local hospitals. Thank you fro all your prayers. We can tell you are praying.
