Did I really mention the word busy?

So I think I said something about the last day of clinic being a busy one.  That became an understatement!  We were already getting short on some medications, so we stopped at the pharmacy to purchase some  this morning.  We knew that we would be seeing people from Citi Solie today and we knew that many people would continue to show up from Caradeux.  We just never imagined how many the combination would be.

In the medical clinician we saw 528 people and the eye glass clinic once again saw over 100.  The health concerns we once again large and varied. We can not figure out why so many young people had extremely high blood pressures.  I am talking about in the 200's.  Once again we saw several people with hernias.

Pastor Maurice from Caradiux opened us up with singing and a prayer.  We all prayed the Lord's prayer together.  How inspirational and I believe God's pleasing to combine the English and the Creole together as we prayed.  Pastor also prayed with the people who were waiting before the clinic and they sang.

We had the opportunity to give away all of the soccer uniforms to the principal and many of the students from the school at the church today.  We also bought two soccer balls for them to use.  Wait until you see these photos.

At one point we had 6 people seeing patients; three inside and three outside. The lines were long and the pharmacy was very busy.  Move over CVS. . . they filled over 1700 prescriptions today.

I don't know if I said it before, but Citi Solie is the poorest city in the poorest country in this hemisphere.  We were able to bus in about 100 people from this city.  We can not go in and do a clinic because of concerns, but we can get the medicine and food to them by bringing them out.  Each man, women and child received a bag of beans and a bag of rice.  We always have to remember that we can't totally change their lives, but we can show the love of Christ and offer them the hope of heaven.

A challenge was given to the team this morning.  That was to say Jesus loves you to at least 10 people.  I think the team met the challenge and more; and praised God in the process.

At the end of clinic we had to say goodbye to our translators for another year.  We had several from last year and also many new ones.  It is a sad good bye, but happy in the hope that we will see them again next year.

Tomorrow we are planning on going to the Children's Hospital and the Home for the Dying.  These are not easy visits, but ones where we can truly show God's love in small but powerful ways.  The Home for the Dying is like a hospice hospital where people go that are terminally ill.  Please pray that we can care for these people as Jesus would have us do.

The team is all healthy, praise God!  Please pray for continued health, for strength for our visits tomorrow and for the team members that will work on arranging hospital visits for the next few weeks.

Thank you again for the prayers.  God bless you all.
