We followed worship with a day of shopping and relaxing. A drive up the mountain gave the team a different view of Haiti. It was greener and much cooler.
As always we were invited to Leonard's home and as has become a tradition, we had pizza. If we could move these ladies to St. Clair they would make a mint on this pizza.
Monday saw us travel to Caradiux. Much closer that Liiivoux but the road is winding and steep. We arrived at the gate to the sound of several hundred voices. The people were waiting. . .
We had to set up clinic in the church. Desks and benches needed to be brought up the many steps. Discussions were held about where to put the docs? Where does the eye glass clinic go? How about pharmacy? Can the lab be near the bathroom? Once we got all that set we were ready. Did you know that each clinic opens with prayer? In a huge circle are all of the team including all the translators and helpers. On our first day Trish had us sing "Rise and Shine" and we have been singing it each day before clinic. It is a great kick start.
Each of our clinics have been different from past clinics and Monday's was no different. We saw more people with open wounds, a lot with high blood pressure, more people needing to go to the hospital, five people needing to return for injections, children with asthma, possible cancers, and the list goes on. Each person is met with smiles and God's love.
We now have more than 9 people who need cataracts removed from their eyes, at least 5 people with hernias (including an infant and a 4 year old), and a couple of women with possible breast cancer. We will be finding out the cost tomorrow and hope at we can find some financial help when we return.
We saw more that 325 people in the medical clinic and about 100 in eye glasses. Just as the docs were setting up for injections at the end of the day, they were called outside because a man had a seizure outside and was on the ground. It sounded like he did this frequently and no one realized that medicine could help. God put us there so that we could provide this man with medication and hopefully help decrease those seizures. Leonard provided transportation back to the mans house and clinic continued.
We were told that about 150 people were asked to return today. Add those to the ones schedule for today and the people coming from Citi Solie, and it will make for a very busy last clinic day. Today we will be giving the school at Caradiux all of the soccer uniforms from the Soccer Organization in St. Clair. Thank you Lisa and the Girlfriends Group.
Tomorrow we hope to get to the Children's Home/Hospital and the Home for the Dying.
Please pray for all of those we will see today, for the team to be God's light and for all the people who need to be seen at the hospital and treated.
I want to thank everyone for their prayers. They are felt strongly by the team. What a blessing to know others are praying.
